As Canadian As Maple Syrup

Last week while Virginia and I were driving down to Atlanta for our friend Sally's wedding we stumbled upon something that I not given any thought about in a long, long time--Shreddies.

Virginia likes to make Chex Mix for festive occasions (David loves the stuff). I do not really care for Chex Mix. However, it dawned on me while snacking on some of the aforementioned mix that it had Shreddies in it. Shreddies, in Canada, are a type of breakfast cereal that I have never seen in the United States. Chex are really Shreddies cousin from the south.

So from Shreddies I went to bagged milk. From bagged milk I went to Smarties. From Smarties I went to ketchup chips. From ketchup chips I went to the metric system... and on and on. All things in Canada that do not exist in America.

Shreddies, for those who don't know, are a cereal consisting of woven-looking whole wheat squares.

So I think I'm going to dig around a little and find some more things that Americans are surely missing out on. I think, however, that NBC has saturated the coverage of curling to the point where Americans merely find it a novelty instead of a real winter sport (trust me, Bob Costas is making fun of the sport more than celebrating it). That being said, I won't be including it in my list.
