Best Mexican This Side of the James River

Since we moved to Williamsburg, Charlie and I held a ladder tournament for the Mexican restaurants in the area. Williamsburg had big shoes to fill in the form of Los Loros but we were determined to find our Mexican fix.

The one thing we found quite unusual pretty much in the entire state of Virginia is that with the chips and salsa, you get a bowl of ranch dressing with no explanation, as if ranch dressing obviously goes with chips and salsa since the days of Guadalupe Victoria.

After a hard-fought battle through queso, guacamole and enchiladas, we found a winner: Pancho Villa. Now, it's no Los Loros and the salsa leaves something to be desired, but we're pretty pleased with it. However, the best salsa in Williamsburg is at Chili's...sad, but true.
