Dear Women Who Insist on Wearing Formal Shorts (you know who you are):Would you wear sweatpants with Ferragamo heels? Would you wear running shorts to Afternoon Tea at the Ritz? Would you wear Uggs with a Diane Von Furstenberg -- wait, YOU probably would. However, the large majority of women realize these combinations do not mix for multiple reasons.
Formal shorts do not exist. Shorts are, by their very nature, casual clothing attire. They are meant to be worn in a relaxed fashion. Wearing them with 4 inch heels destroys the devil may care attitude that shorts exude. Instead of coming across as spontaneous and nonchalant, you look like you're trying too hard.
Further, pairing a set of stilettos with some satin shorts does not make it an outfit worthy of a Michelin-starred restaurant. Formal shorts are about two seasons ago and all you are left with are wrinkled shorts and a blister (don't deny it).
Next time, throw on a dress. Your friends will thank you.
