I Don't Take No Stereos

So, Hadley had her final dermatologist/allergist visit yesterday. It was looking hopeful with the vet was saying how good she looked given how bad the allergies are currently in Virginia (seriously, never live here if you have allergies, I don't, but they are apparently killing our dog, so figure that out). Then....they took her to the "back." The back is where bad things happen -- where $75 ear cleanings and $35 steroid injections take place without any warning. Both of which happened yesterday morning. The vet came back and pretty much told us that they think Hadley's ear drum has ruptured. That's not as bad as it sounds (it can repair itself), but it's not ideal, obviously.

We're trying to avoid this again -- look closely, that is one swollen dog
So, let's run down Hadley's current medicine regime (seriously, if she was in 4th grade, she'd be the kid with the headgear and inhaler who would have to go to the nurse on her way to lunch to pick up her prescription-strength claritin):
  • Allergy Pill (this is actually an anti-depressant that apparently does something for allergies in dogs....): 1 pill, twice a day
  • Clindamyicin (spelling? I don't know or care): 2 pills, twice a day
  • Prednisone: 1 1/2 pills once a day (do you know how annoying 1/2 pills are?)
  • Ear Drops: 1/2 a dropper in her right ear twice a day
  • Ear Cleaner (Hadley has 2 kinds: 1 for her "good" ear, and 1 for her bad ear - it's like some sort of drug cocktail): every other day
  • Bath: 1-2 times weekly with her medicated shampoo and leave-in conditioner
Anyways, that's it. Back to insurance. I'll probably post later today because you're all so interested in my day-to-day life :)
