Awards Season!

I love awards shows -- the dresses, the hosts, the awkward questions on the red carpet beforehand -- love it all.

And tonight, awards season is officially upon us (sorry, I don't count the People's Choice Awards because, let's be honest, George Clooney didn't even show up for them)! Even better, no classes tomorrow, so I can stay up until the best movie award!

So, here's my guess on who is going to win -- I have a terrible track record with all of these things since I usually have only seen about 1/3 of the nominated movies, shows, etc. I only do it for the important ones (i.e. no best foreign film or best editing or whatever -- come on, be for real).

UPDATE: I went 6 for 8 -- my best record yet!!!

Best Motion Picture, Drama: Avatar

Charlie and I saw this last weekend and loved it. Really good and not at all cheesy like the trailer made it out to be.

Best Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical: Julie & Julia

This is a tough one, but I'm going with Julie & Julia -- loved Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci.

Best Director - Motion Picture: James Cameron, Avatar

Totally taking a shot in the dark here.

Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama: Jeff Bridges, Crazy Heart

Haven't seen this movie, but saw the preview and I love Jeff Bridges. Sold.

Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama: Sandra Bullock, The Blind Side

Another tough call, having not seen ANY of these movies, but everyone is raving about The Blind Side, and I think it's Sandy's time (rumor: apparently Sandy is not very nice on the sets of her movies)

Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Comedy: Matt Damon, The Informant!

No idea why, I liked RDJ in Sherlock Holmes, but The Informant! looked pretty funny and I'm fan of Matt Damon.

Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Comedy: Meryl Streep, Julia & Julia

Too good, Meryl, too good. Bon appetit!

Best Animated Feature Film: Up!

Saw it the other night -- love Pixar, but the beginning was a little sad, much like the Lion King
