2009 flew by in a whirlwind. Here's a quick rundown of what we did this year.January:
Rang in the new year with Bobber and Liz in Rhode Island after A LOT of driving across the eastern seaboard. Started a new semester and Charlie geared up for new projects at work.
February:
Celebrated Charlie's birthday with a dinner at Dudley's with friends. I went through my first round of 1L summer job interviews and managed to land a summer job.
March:
Spent a week in Atlanta with a stopover in Chapel Hill (lots of golf!). Began to think I might make it through my first year of law school.
April:
Studied for my spring semester finals. Charlie drove all over the state for work (Charlottesville, Richmond, Norfolk).
May:
Completed my first year of law school (and survivied write-on) and started my internship at the City Attorney's Office. Charlie and I saw an influx of summer blockbusters at the movies (STart Trek, Angels & Demons, Terminator). We also visited Yorktown for the first time.
June:
Spent a lot of time in court (juvenile, criminal, traffic). Took a trip to Canada to visit family.
July:
Celebrated Fourth of July in Atlanta (pool, Shaun's, Leon's!). Charlie and I had our own staycation by playing golf and visiting the Outer Banks where Hadley frolicked in the waves. Had another anniversary (two years?!?!). Charlie's parents visited and we experienced George's Seafood Buffet finally!
August:
Finished up my summer internship. Charlie and I had an amazing vacation in Sea Island (steak au poivre, grilled caesar salad, pina coladas!). Started the summer associate job search.
September:
Ran the gamut of summer associate interviews and flew back and forth from Atlanta four times. Charlie and I caught the Friday of the Tour Championship.
October:
Second trip to the Virginia State Fair - we saw Luke Bryan in concert. I officially accepted my offer with Alston & Bird after agonizing over the decision. Charlie and I celebrated with Bobber and Liz in Rhode Island. We even took advantage for Free Admission day at the Boston MFA. Did some window shopping on Newbury Street.
November:
Celebrated my birthday with Charlie's version of Jamie Oliver's stew. Began preparing for my 3rd set of law school finals. Spent Thanksgiving in Williamsburg on our own (beef tenderloin, garlic mashed potatoes, roasted artichoke dip). Took walks in CW to see the Christmas decorations. Charlie begins to get really busy with work.
December:
Finish my law school exams and become half an attorney (until Charlie reminds me that I still have the bar exam after school, so half an attorney -- not so much). I proceed to spend the majority of the second half of December with some form of sickness. Celebrate Christmas in Atlanta with all the fixings (A Christmas Carol, liturgical dancers, christmas cookies). Ring in the New Year in Atlanta in an unprecedented fashion.
