Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Charlie and I are having petite Thanksgiving here in Williamsburg. It's been a pretty low key day for us, but we do have a pretty awesome menu that we're excited about.

- Roasted Artichoke Dip
- Roast Beef Tenderloin
- Julia Child's Garlic Mashed Potatoes
- Roasted Carrots (barefoot contessa)
- Pan Fried Brussel Sprouts with Bacon
- Toffee Apple Tart: the coup de grace (with toffee made from scratch)

So far, I made the most amazing muffins that smelled like christmas morning (with nutmeg, cinnamon, cranberries and orange). They are from Nigella Lawson's christmas cookbook.

Mary Katherine, I think I'm as obsessed with Nigella Lawson as I am with Barefoot Contessa.

Now, as for the toffee. This was seriously an experiment. According to Jamie Oliver, you can make toffee by sticking an UNOPENED can of sweetened condensed milk in simmering water and simmer it for about 3 hours. Needless to say, in Brown household, which is full of kitchen mishaps, I was a little concerned. I googled it and apparently it is a legitimate method of making toffee. So this morning, I said a little prayer and stuck 2 cans in a big pot......

And this is what came out!!

Not kidding -- it was such good toffee!! I'll keep you posted on how the rest of the meal turns out since I'm on food photographer duty.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
