Today was the Government & Public Interest Job Fair in Richmond. From 9 am to 4 pm, I had 7 interviews. I thought the best way to put you in my shoes for the entire day (lucky you, I know): 5:52: Wake up, turn off alarm that is supposed to go off at 6
6:23: Use lint brush to make sure I catch any stray dog hairs that managed to migrate about 4 feet higher than Hadley can reach
7:56: Hike to the "Commons" on the University of Richmond campus from the J parking lot in 2 1/2 inch heels
9:03: Realize that first interview of the day has a list of questions to ask every candidate...so much for "give and take" interviewing
10:16: Convince US Attorney's Office that History and Classical Languages majors are excellent preparation for a crime in prosecution 11:01: Stand awkwardly to the right of a curtain waiting for the preceding interview to finish up, try to remember what little I know about tax law.
11:21: Be extremely jealous of Gardner who is on his way home from Richmond
12:31: Down Diet Dr. Pepper for caffeine boost
1:26: Discuss Meridian, MS with the Henrico County Staff Attorney
2:02: Put completely on the spot by interviewer when what the Office for Protection and Advocacy does exactly
3:37: Beg, borrow and steal in order to get a job from the Virginia Supreme Court
4:06: Get interviewed by the "human resources" attorneys from NASA
4:41: Collapse into car
8:06: Watch last night's Grey's Anatomy/Private Practice crossover episode in celebration of finishing interviews!
I have until Tuesday to give my answer to the Newport News City Attorney if by some miracle I manage to hear back from the Virginia Supreme Court or the US Attorney's Office. So, by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, I be employed for the summer, albeit not gainfully....
Happy Weekend!
