Whoa, That is Cheap!!

Our friends have a frugal eating website, so we decided to do one of our own!! The best part? We didn't even realize it was frugal until we were eating it.

We recently got Julia Child's
Mastering the Art of French Cooking and we were watching "Julia and Jacques in the Kitchen" while they were making Eggs Benedict. Well, it looked pretty good and Charlie decided to give it a shot. Here is the amazing result!!

The Breakdown:

6 eggs..............................................67¢
4 oz. butter......................................50¢
3 slices of white sandwich bread.........20¢
4 slices of ham................................30¢
1 T lemon juice................................5¢
salt/pepper......................................negligible

Total (drumroll!)............................$1.72 (that is 57¢ per eggs benedict!) We used regular sandwich and cut a round out of the bread (as per Julia's suggestion) and used prepackaged deli ham. We had everything on hand and didn't have to go the store for it!

Pretty impressive, no? Just a Saturday morning at the Brown household :) And the best part: Charlie used our cute little butter warmer that I insisted we get (you can't really tell the size in the picture, but it is itty bitty)!
Today, we're off to spend some time with Colonials because it's been awhile since Hadley has been "ye olde dog." Have a great weekend!
