Due to Charlie's work schedule and the fact that exams are quickly approaching, Charlie and I again are staying in Williamsburg for Thanksgiving I am thrilled that this is the last Thanksgiving ruined by exams!
I generally love Thanksgiving -- I'm a big fan of the holidays in general, but this year, because we've been so busy, it's been hard to get into a Thanksgiving-y mood. We didn't want to cook an entire turkey for ourselves, so we were throwing around various ideas from a turkey breast to a tenderloin to lamb to everything in between. Nothing was really jumping out at us, nor were we willing to pay that much for a piece of meat we just weren't that jazzed about. Also, Charlie's parents and brother are coming here for Christmas, so we are going all out then!
Ultimately, we decided to do what people in Williamsburg do for Thanksgiving: go out to eat. The people in Williamsburg at this time are all tourists, thus almost every restaurant is open for Thanksgiving. Our first choice was sold out, so we will be sitting down to 6:00 p.m. dinner at Dudley's Farmhouse tomorrow while the rest of you are slipping into a turkey coma :) My mother kindly informed that Steak 'N Shake is also open tomorrow -- thanks Mom.
I'm okay with going out to eat, really I am, but I still felt like we needed to mark the occasion, so we will be having a Thanksgiving Brunch. We'll be back tomorrow to post some pictures (maybe even include some pictures of the pooper) and give y'all a full report.
In the meantime, I am thankful for a wonderful and hardworking husband, a family that is as excited for Black Friday as it is for Thanksgiving, and an 80-pound lab that thinks she is the size of a chihuahua.
Happy Thanksgiving!
P.S. I have another Peanuts Thanksgiving picture for tomorrow too, so don't fret :)
