Sometimes we get asked to do some silly things at work. There really should be more of a vetting process for designers. Here is part of a wet bar that was built this week and will be installed next week. It has the old 'rustic' look (which, frankly, I just don't get). The visible pieces of solid wood are a lamination of antique chestnut flooring with the old rough edge preserved. I forgot to take a picture of the door in the open position so you could see it looks the exact same on the inside. The faux strap hinges were purchased new (complete with rust).

The top is 1 1/2" solid mahogany and has been a bear on tooling. We're finishing some smaller projects this week and next before starting into a restaurant job where we're doing the cabinets and counters. The checkout counter will be neat; we're using old maple flooring--complete with old rusted nail holes.
When we finish this other project next week I'll show you a picture of a project where the designer / architect asked us to make a wall of wood have light pass through it. Whatever pays the bills, I guess.
