2011 U.S. Open

I love the U.S. Open. Although I've never actually seen it live or even been to Arthur Ashe Stadium (or Louis Armstrong Stadium, for that matter), I have a strong sense of attachment to the US Open. I can't really explain it other than the timing of it and the players gearing up for the final major of the season. It’s back to school anxiety and excitement. It’s end of summer bbq before getting ready for a new school year.

One of these years hopefully Charlie and I will make it to Flushing Meadows to see a few rounds (add it to my list of all the things I want do, including seeing Jimmy Buffett live in some sort of tropical locale, preferably the Florida Keys). For now, I'll watch Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic battle it out. I'm a big Djokovic fan -- I've liked him ever since he was a cocky junior player just breaking onto the professional circuit by mimicking other players' "tics" on the court.

If you watch tennis, you'll really appreciate just how spot on his imitations are:

He does a pretty good Andy Roddick imitation too, but I couldn't find that.

Happy Labor Day!
