I know I know, you're bored from hearing from me. Charlie is about to hit 80 hours at work this week (and that does not even include his commute, so really add 14 hours to that). It's really kind of insane. I asked him when he thought they would get a break, which will probably be next Sunday!! So I finished up my Rule 14 Memo for my trial this morning and looked at study guides online (which really isn't all that helpful). Now I'm looking at some downtime until Charlie gets home, which hopefully is soon I think. Hence, the holidays.
Since it's almost the middle of October, which is just about when I start celebrating the holidays, I started looking at the Nigella Christmas cookbook for festive recipes. Nigella's cookbook is literally a feast for the eyes -- it's got lots of glossy pictures and really bright colors. I think I found some pretty good possibilities:
- Christmas Chocolate Cookies (looks very similar to chocolate shortbread with a chocolate glaze on it)
- Cranberry & White Chocolate Cookies
- Christmas Cornflake Wreaths
- Spruced Vanilla Cakes (my mom makes poppy seed bread, which I love, but Charlie is not a big fan)
I think I'll stick to most of my old reliables -- decorated gingerbread men, chattanooga chew-chews, jam thumbprint cookies, sugar cookies, but I really like having a big variety.
Here's hoping for a more exciting Sunday afternoon!
