Country Furniture

A couple of samples of "Country Furniture" that I have a mild interest in building. It's hard to define what country furniture actually is (wikipedia doesn't have an article for it therefore maybe it isn't real?). Typcially the pieces are constructed of pine and have a pretty plain finish. We have a country pine wardrobe in our dining room that holds our china, glasses, etc., so the furniture can work in just about any room. More uptown pieces of country furniture can be constructed from nicer hardwoods, but if you were just going to cover it with a rustic milk paint finish that would certainly be a waste of wood.

The first example below typically has turned legs but I think the heavy square legs lends to the rustic quality of the cabinet. Out of these examples, I like the dry sink the best. I think it would house potatoes nicely in the cupboard underneath.

happy days,
